Investigation on heat transfer augmentation of high temperature flowing system inserted with radiant plates

Abstract

The heat radiation of radiant plates can be used to augment heat transfer when it is inserted in the high temperature gas flow passage along the axial direction of the passage. The numerical calculation about temperature field of radiant plates was carried out by making use of a radiation-convection simultaneous equation, and the experimental research was carried out within a high temperature wind tunnel (the highest temperature ≤900 °C). The calculated results coincide with the experimental results. In addition, the effects of the temperature of gas flow at inlet, average speed of gas flow and the number of radiant plates on the temperature drop of gas flow were investigated and analyzed.
