Abstract
This study explores the application of elliptical ultrasonic peening milling (EUPM) technology in machining Inconel 718. A comparative analysis between EUPM and conventional milling (CM) is conducted, investigating tool life and wear mechanisms under different amplitudes, and systematically studying the influence of varying tool wear states on surface integrity indices. The results demonstrate that EUPM extends tool life by 26.3 % and 10.5 % at amplitudes ( A x : 8 μm, A y : 6 μm) and ( A x : 10 μm, A y : 8 μm), respectively, exhibits significant advantages in improving the quality of machined surface integrity over CM. These findings contribute to developing new processes for efficient and high-quality machining of Inconel 718.
