Investigation of the vibration control by frictional constraints between blade shrouds-rule analysis

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The performance of shroud damper was investigated systematically by researching the nonlinear responses of plate blades with shrouds. The influences of many contact parameters such as initial normal force, contact angle, contact stiffness and coefficient of friction were obtained. Furthermore the vibration responses of an aero-engine fan blade were investigated. The effects of shroud on the first bending mode and a higher mode of the fan blade were analyzed, and the reason of blade fracture due to fatigue was determined. The results can be used to the design and the fault diagnosis of blades with shrouds.
