Abstract
It is indicated theoretically that the cladding mode generated by a long-period fiber grating (LPFG) can be coupled further to another unsymmetrical cladding mode via acoustooptic effect. A novel technique to tune the transmission spectrum of an LPFG is proposed and demonstrated experimentally by applying an acoustic wave with proper frequency and intensity.
