N2 - The quality dissatisfaction of the output product is the kernel failure of the running manufacturing system. An effective quality diagnosis approach plays a key role for continuous and systematic quality improvement of manufacturing system operation, but previous studies of quality diagnosis and evaluation neglected the quality transmission effects of component System, operational Process and output Product, lacking of a holistic means to diagnose the above three aspects of the quality state synthetically. In order to resolve this dilemma, a novel comprehensive quality diagnosis approach considering quality transmission effects of these three aspects of intelligent manufacturing system is presented. First, from the viewpoint of system engineering, the quality transmission chain of System - Process -Product is put forward, and the operational failure is defined. Second, a comprehensive quality evaluation model is established with the aid of the proposed quality chain and the regression analysis and cluster analysis. Third, the extended analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is adopted to diagnose operational quality by quantitatively solve the established comprehensive quality evaluation model. Finally, the effectiveness of the method is verified by an example of an electronic product production line.
