Integrated optimization design of the radial connection between missile cabins based on the mixed variables

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The optimization model of the radial connection between missile cabins, which is an integrated optimization problem involving size, shape and topology optimization, was established and solved successfully. The discrete variables, the number and the diameter of the radially bolt, were introduced into the optimization model to be optimized with the continuous variables, the detail size of the radial connection, at the same time. The model was solved successfully under the constraints of structural strength and stiffness to minimize the mass of the structure on the software iSIGHT. The optimal design was conducted after a long time of solving the optimization and it meets all the constraints on the engineering verification. The method to establish the optimization model of an integrated structural design based on the mixed variables has a certain reference value for the large-scale engineering optimization problems.
