N2 - A measurement, about the atmosphere from the ground-based microwave radiometers with high spectral resolution, would appear to contain a large amount of information about water vapour content. In this paper, the use of Shannon Entropy in information theory and the Multi-resolution wavelet transform, which can be defined without relating to the given retrieval method, can apportion measures of resolution to specific altitude ranges and pattern scales. Simulation study is done to examine the different performance of the information gain of hyperspectral technology compared with the traditional sounder.
