Abstract

Based on the characteristics of the millimeter-scale radial turbine, the correlations between turbine performance and the aerodynamic parameters were studied by combined theoretical analysis and empirical correlation. The laws and the scope of the influences of the key parameters on micro-radial turbine performance during the aerodynamic design process were discussed. These criterions were proved to be reasonable through the design procedure of a millimeter-scale turbine and the related 3-D numerical analysis. Contraposing the unsuitability of the adiabatic wall condition of millimeter-scale turbine, the effect of heat transfer on turbine performance was discussed. The guidance was given to micro turbine aerodynamic design through those results.
