Abstract

A practical FE model had been developed based on the platform ABAQUS/Explicit, which was in accordance with the forming characteristics of the multi-pass conventional spinning. The influence of roller-trace on the forming process and the quality of spinning product had been studied. Among the three types of roller traces including straight-line, arc, and involute, the involute roller trace is the best for forming quality. Roller-trace with and without gradual pressure play different roles and should be applied accordingly. The results show that the roller-trace has great influence on the quality of the workpiece and a good roller-trace is obtained.
