Abstract
The three dimensional image of medical object from volume data was considered. The principle and shortages of Marching cube algorithm, as one of the advanced surface-based rendering algorithms, were analyzed. The improvements of the algorithm in reduction of memory space, elimination of redundant computation and handling of uncertainty problems were performed. The procedure of the improved algorithm was given, which was implemented on SGI Indigo2 Open GL platform. The result of testing has shown that the improved algorithm is effective and has satisfactory image quality.
