Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to try to build a NoC(Network-on-Chip) [1] system connected by VOQ(Virtual Output Queue) [1] routers. In the first part of this paper we introduce the concept and background knowledge about NoC from four aspects topology structure, switch mode, flow control and routing algorithm. Then we implement the VOQ router and introduce the design of the input module and output module. In the last part, we first test the VOQ design both in single-node and network-level by checking the simulation waveforms. Then we compare the VOQ router with the wormhole [2] router in their throughput and latency performance.
