Abstract
A composite laminated beam is considered to be in a state of plane stress, the analytical solutions of frequencies and modal functions of a composite orthogonal and anisotropic laminated beam with simply-supported boundary condition are obtained by elasticity theory. The indirect mode superposition method is applied to the determination of its impact responses. For a single layered orthogonal and anisotropic composite beam, its numerical results are compared with those of Timoshenko beam theory, the comparisons show that the influence of thickness effects on impact response is very important. And the stress properties and the characteristics of wave propagation are analyzed in detail for composite laminated beam.
