Abstract

Wet, wet, wet: Typical wetting transition (from spreading to bouncing) of water droplets on micro- and nanostructured surfaces at high temperatures has been investigated. The spreading and bouncing behavior varies on substrates with different wettabilities (see picture; substrate brown, water droplet blue, water vapor white), and the bouncing temperature changes when the microstructure of the surface changes.
