Abstract

This paper proposes a novel type of BLDC startergenerator (BLDCSG) controller with high power density at 1.54 kW /L and the corresponding control strategy. The topology of the controller principally comprises a three-phase bridge and a buck converter. The three-phase bridge controls the motor start-up in the motor control state and performs uncontrolled rectification in the generator control state, while the buck converter regulates the voltage in the generator control state to achieve a target voltage of 28 V. Six-step commutation and voltage-current double closedloop are used for starting and voltage stabilization control in the motor state and power generator state of BLDCSG, respectively. Finally, the performance of the controller is validated through simulation.
