Abstract

Integral imaging three-dimensional (3D) display enables to offer natural depth cues and immersive 3D observing experiences, which is a promising approach for 3D visualization. However, challenges remain in the large depth of field, high-resolution 3D image, and real-time rendering. In this paper, we review three technologies recently proposed by our group in high-performance integral imaging 3D display and acquisition from the hardware structure and algorithm, respectively. These contributions demonstrate the performance advancement of integral imaging 3D display and acquisition from the aspects of the optical design, algorithmic optimization, and rendering acceleration.
