Abstract

The nonlinear harmonic distortion of the output signal of electronic transformer made of difference kinds of amorphous and nanocrystalline soft magnetism material has great difference. The analyzes the relationship between magnetic permeability and magnetic induction in an excitation cycle and the relationship between magnetic permeability and hysteresis, obtains the relationship between harmonic distortion and magnetic induction, and the relationship between harmonic distortion and squareness ratio. The functions for calculating total harmonic distortion and magnetic induction are approximately fitted, and the method for reducing the impact of harmonic distortion is proposed. Tests show that the effect of magnetic induction and squareness ratio on total harmonic distortion is very obvious. Using appropriate amorphous and nanocrystalline soft magnetic material with low squareness ratio and high saturation magnetic induction characteristic can reduce the THD (total harmonic distortion) of electronic transformer as much as 17 dB.
