Abstract

The objective of the Berkeley GENESIS project is to design and implement a system for supporting the entire life-cycle of software: requirement analysis and specification, design, coding, testing, maintenance, and evolution. Since most software systems undergo modifications and improvement with time, the authors focus on supporting the evolution phase. In the resource manager of GENESIS, resources and links are used for supporting layered architectures, software family concept, traceability and software reusability. A rule-based activity manager coordinates the activities in the system.
