Abstract

Starting from the airworthiness regulations related to full authority digital engine control (FADEC) system, considering the general principle of functional hazard assessment (FHA) and characteristics of FADEC system, the essential points of FHA for FADEC system were drew. According to the tool and data requirements, a hazard assessment for variable bleed valve (VBV) control function was conducted by using the aero-engine aero-thermodynamics model. The results indicate that: (1) This model could identify engine effect of FADEC system function failure. (2) Model analysis method of functional hazard for FADEC system which could determine engine effect hazard level through quantitative analysis, provides visual information for the assessment and could be a supplement for expert experience.
