FEM simulation and experimental analysis on complicated skin stretch forming

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Stretching is used in aircraft skin forming. Stretching parameters were set in special system ASSFCAE and stretching processes with different parameters were simulated with commercial finite element simulation code. The parameters were optimized using finite element analysis and verified by experiment. Strain and thickness of the blank were measured. The measuring and analytical values of strain and thickness reducing rate distribution agree well. The disparity in wrinkling representation between finite element simulation and experiment had been discussed initially.
