Abstract
Taking the landing-gear of Y7 airliners as an example, a general fault diagnosis expert system was developed. The key tasks, such as the requirements analysis, functions definition, knowledge acquisition and representation, inference logics, and system modelling are discussed. FTA, FMEA, and object-oriented techniques are used as the basic approaches for accomplishing these tasks. The system has the features of good generality, openness, and powerful inference capability. It has played an important role in assuring an schedule dispatch and flight safety of Y7 airliners.
