Fast optimal design of the waveguide slotted array

Abstract

A novel fast optimal design method based on genetic algorithm (GA) is given for the rectangular waveguide slotted array. 'approaching ideal current' cost function is present in this optimal method instead of the 'approaching ideal pattern' cost function in conventional method, considering the mutual coupling in the waveguide slotted array in the Elliott equations. The results of 4-slot array show the validity of this method, the array of 8-slot is also analyzed. Examples show that this method is much more quick than conventional method based on 'approaching ideal pattern' optimization, and this method can be used to the large array design.
