Fast and sub-pixel extraction method for structured light stripe center

Abstract

In order to obtain central points of structured light stripes in image, a novel algorithm to extract sub-pixel center points of stripe is proposed. The algorithm realizes fast extraction for sub-pixel central points in light stripe through a repeating operation which involves calculating the center of one-dimensional stripe and the normal of stripe. The simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm is very fast and quite accurate, since the accuracy is up to 0.12 pixel when the noise level σ equals 36 and the processing time is only about 6.5 milliseconds when the resolving power of image is 768×576.
