Abstract
A failure risk evaluation and optimization method for mechanical product design scheme based on knowledge was put forward. Matrix and one-dimension array were used to represent the Function-Component (FC), Component-Failure mode-Failure risk (CFF) and their relationship. The knowledge model of Function-Failure mode-Failure risk (F3) was set up by means of matrix multiplication and array connection operation. And the F3 knowledge base was established based on the knowledge model. Supported by above knowledge model and knowledge base, approach to make Risk Priority Number (RPN) and the evaluation method based on product failure risk knowledge for mechanical product design scheme were both presented. Finally, a simple case was provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
