Experiments of single phase flow characteristics for swirl microchannel under overload acceleration

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The experiment of flow characteristics in rectangular cross section swirl microchannel test pieces under acceleration overload condition was conducted with ethylene glycol solution of 30% (volume concentration). Three swirl microchannels test pieces with width of 0.5 mm and different depths were considered. Each test piece was made of copper with six microchannels contained, and the acceleration loaded was provided by centrifugal acceleration test machine. Flow characteristics of the swirl microchannels under different acceleration situations were investigated with various conditions of fluid flux, and the influence of microchannel structure and liquid velocity was gained. The results show that the acceleration direction has significant effect on the flow resistance of swirl microchannels, and the ability of swirl microchannel against the influence of acceleration condition is significantly affected by the Dean number.
