Abstract

Titanium alloys are widely used in aerospace industry due to their excellent mechanical properties. Titanium's advantages are high strength-To-weight ratio, low density, excellent corrosion resistance, excellent erosion resistance and low modulus of elasticity. But titanium alloys are known as difficult-To-machine materials especially at higher cutting speeds due to their inherent properties. Such problems occur during the cutting process as high cutting temperature, large specific cutting force and serious tool wear, leading to low machining efficiency. The serrated chips were experimented studied using carbide cutting tools while machining titanium alloys.
