Abstract

The internal stress state of geotextile bags under axial load is a key factor influencing their mechanical performance. This paper presents a compression test on geotextile bags, where horizontal and vertical earth pressure sensors were installed inside the bags to monitor stress changes throughout the loading process. The test results indicate that the ratio of the measured horizontal stress to vertical stress (i.e., the earth pressure coefficient) during the entire loading process is significantly lower than the theoretical value for the passive earth pressure coefficient but corresponds more closely with the active earth pressure coefficient. The findings elucidate the internal stress behavior of geotextile bags under vertical loading, providing valuable insights for their design and application.
