Abstract

The experiment method was adopted to study the oxidation kinetics of air plasma sprayed (APS) thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) in four different temperatures, and the state parameters were given by matching the experimental data with these two popular oxidation kinetics formulas. The investigation shows that the kinetic curves are the same in the form under four different temperatures, and the oxidation kinetics of APS TBCs can be expressed properly by the parabolic function formula only under higher temperatures, but the power function formula is powerful for the expression of oxidation kinetics, and it can express the oxidation kinetics perfectly in all the four temperatures.
