Experimental Research on the Performance of a Self-Adjusting Pulsation Attenuator for Ship EHA Steering Gear

Abstract

Aiming at the pressure pulsation suppression requirements in low frequency band under variable speed and load conditions of ship EHA steering gear, a novel self-adjusting pulsation attenuator is proposed. Based on the principle of gas-liquid coupling vibration reduction and a self-adjusting device, this attenuator can effectively overcome the shortcomings of traditional pulsation attenuators, such as narrow attenuation frequency band and susceptibility to load changes. Modeling the pulsation attenuator using dynamic theory, studying its attenuation mechanism, and developing a prototype based on actual engineering needs. The performance of the prototype is verified on the ship EHA steering gear test bench, and the results display that the proposed prototype enjoys excellent broadband pressure pulsation attenuation effect under variable load conditions, which can effectively overcome the defect that the attenuation performance of non-self-adjusting attenuator is seriously affected by load.
