Abstract

The effects of multi-staged injection in a strut-cavity based scramjet combustor were examined in clean air. The experimental results show that compared with the solely strut injection, the additional wall injection greatly enhanced the wall pressure profile along the combustor without the upstream propagation of the original pressure rise. When the fuel equivalence ratio from wall injection was relatively low, the location of wall injection had little influence on the wall pressure profiles at two different inflow total temperatures. Furthermore, a fraction of fuel injected from the cavity resulted in a certain enhancement on the wall pressure profile upstream the peak pressure.
