Abstract

The acoustic cavity resonance noise inside the tyre-wheel assembly is known to contribute to audible noise in the passenger compartment of vehicles, but it is difficult to attenuate the effect of tyre cavity resonance noise. The purpose of this paper is to test and analyze the sound pressure amplitude in the cavity of a revolving tyre through a sound pressure amplitude sensor fixed inside the tyre, and obtain the distribution of sound pressure amplitude during the resonance of a rotating tyre cavity. Furthermore, the sound pressure amplitude distributions in different situations are investigated by changing the inflation pressure, the rotational speed and the load, respectively. Finally, the effects of these factors on the sound pressure amplitude distributions in the tyre cavity are obtained.
