Abstract

The study was aimed to find the optimal diameter and travel length of pedal button. People need to feel comfortable and convenient when controlling machine with pedal button. Ergonomic experiments had been done on 81 subjects. Each subjects stepped the pedal button and made assessment on diameter or travel length. Diameter and travel length were assessed separately. The results showed that diameter of 55 mm to 70 mm and travel length of 16 mm to 24 mm got the scores closest to “0” which means “suitable”. It was also observed that diameter and travel length are independent variables.
