Abstract

Mutual coupling of airborne antennas is essential information but difficult to estimate in the pre-design phase. In this paper a synthesis procedure is proposed to evaluate the isolation between blade antennas. A synthesized antenna model composed of two sinusoidal currents is used to represent the characteristics of blade antennas, evaluate their isolation in free space, and make predictions on aircraft-like platforms. For the given examples, an excellent agreement is observed between the model and full-wave solutions within a 2?1 frequency bandwidth.
