Abstract

An accurate edge-based smoothed finite element method (ES-FEM) with the absorbing boundary condition (ABC) to model high-speed interconnects is introduced in this paper. In the ES-FEM, the edge-based smoothing domain is first constructed based on the background triangle meshes. Then, by incorporating with the smoothing gradient techniques, the gradient of shape functions is replaced by the smoothed counterparts. After the boundary conditions are applied exactly the same as those in the FEM, the parameters of high-speed interconnects can be accurately extracted.
