Abstract
The brief development course of fracture reliability design is reviewed. The concept and principle of equal damage design for fracture reliability design of structure are proposed. The p - σa - σav - N surface and the γ - p - σa - σav - N surface used for the fracture equal damage design are established. According to this design method, the structure can be designed to be more safe, more reliable and more light. From the fatigue test, it is proved that the components of a structure designed on the basis of the equal damage concept should fail synchronously at the given fatigue crack growth life.
