Abstract

This paper focuses on the electromagnetic (EM) scattering modeling of a special kind of cavities consisting of three plates that can be widely used in the Radar Cross Section (RCS) calculation for large complex targets over sea surface. Physical Optics (PO) approximation and equivalent aperture methods are applied to analyze the scattering mechanisms for a three-plate cavity. By combining with sea reflection coefficient under different sea states, a technique is proposed to compute the RCS of complex targets over sea surface. Typical examples demonstrate that the current method has good agreement with experimental results.
