Element-based electromagnetic interference suppression for modular systems

Abstract

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression becomes more and more prominent in the design of electronic systems, especially in the design of modular systems. An advanced EMI suppression approach for modular systems is proposed in this paper. In this approach, the output spectrum of a system or a module is analyzed and decomposed into several types which are called elements in this paper. Each element corresponds to a specific component in the modular system. With this approach, EMC engineers can locate the EMI source quickly and accurately. Targeted EMC improvements to the EMI source can be carried out after that. Two applications and the output spectrums of them before and after EMC improvement using this approach are also presented in this paper.
