Abstract

Based on SolidWorks API interface and Visual Basic, a set of calculation software for an embedded metal-wire grain was developed. The calculation and experiment results show that the software has high accuracy and meets engineering calculation demands; at the same time, there exists thrust peak during one-step burning process of the embedded metal-wire grain. In order to obtain better internal ballistic properties, the effects of main design parameters on grain calculation were analyzed. The results show that some parameters including the width of groove, the length of uncoated grain and array diameter of metal wires have great effects on stability of grain performance, but the effects of groove length and the ratio of burning rate are relative small. In addition, the effect of conical boss on stability is also great. The conclusion can give a reference for design of the embedded metal-wire grain.
