Abstract

The effects of loading distribution on the performance of a transonic centrifugal impeller are numerically investigated by 3D viscous code. Three kinds of loading distributions, which are forward loading, uniform loading and backward loading are selected. Their effects on the impeller performances and their flow mechanism are analyzed. It is demonstrated that the backward-loading impeller achieves best performance, and the loss caused by secondary flows is the lowest in the backward-loading impeller.
