Abstract

The welded joints of dissimilar steels of T92 and S30432 were prepared by TIG automatic welding process using different welding conditions. The distribution of δ ferrite in the dissimilar welded joints and the effect of welding conditions on the content of ferrite were studied. The results reveal that the block δ ferrite, which is alloying ferrite, is distributed in the fusion zone. The amount and the size of δ ferrite in the bottom and upper zones of the dissimilar welded joint are higher than that in the other zones. The ERNiCrMo-3 filler metal and the small groove angle exhibit a large effect on the δ ferrite. However, the other parameters such as welding interpass temperature, layer number and PWHT temperature show no significant effect on the δ ferrite distribution.
