Abstract

Investigated the effect of tabs fixed on a convergent nozzle to the infrared radiation of the exhausting high speed (supersonic) hot (about 640 °C) jets, and studied the influence of tab block ratio and inclined angle on the suppression of infrared radiation. The results show that tabs can greatly shorten the length of hot core region and dramatically suppress the infrared radiation up to about 73% from the hot jet, under the test range.
