Effect of swirl intensity on combustion characteristic of gas-gas injector

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

In order to investigate the effect of design parameters of gas-gas injector on mixing and combustion characteristic, cold flow and hot fire tests were conducted on the swirl coaxial gas-gas injector in which cold gaseous oxygen and gaseous hydrogen were used as propellants. Discharge coefficient, chamber pressure and charmber wall temperature were obtained. Numerical simulation efforts were performed to simulate the swirl intensity of the inner oxygen on the mixing and combustion of propellants. It can be confimed from the tests that swirl coaxial gas-gas injectors have smaller discharge coefficient; the inner oxygen swirl flow has advantage on the combustion efficiency, however it intensifies the thermal load of the chamber wall and injector facepalte.
