Effect of power and DOP of source in closed-loop FOG on system performance

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The effect of the power and degree of polarization (DOP) of source on the system performance was analyzed. And the inherent scale factor error in closed-loop fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) was derived through theoretical analysis, computer simulations and experimental verification with a mathematical model established. The results indicate that the gain is high enough in physical closed-loop FOG so that fluctuation of source power has no effect upon system, and demonstrates that the bias drift can be suppressed and inherent scale factor error can be reduced by decreasing and stabilizing DOP of source.
