Effect of hot deformation on microstructure of TiAl alloy containing high Nb

Abstract

The deformation temperature and the strain rate have great effect on the true strain-stress curves and microstructure of Ti-45Al-8.0Nb-0.2W-0.2B-0.1Y (atomic percent) through the analyses of hot compression. Curves express strain-soften with the strain increasing at low deformation temperature and high strain rate, and the microstructure of TiAl alloy show much streamline shape. As the deformation temperature reaches 1250°C and the strain rate reduces to 1 × 10-3s-1, the microstructure becomes homogenous because of full recrystallization.
