Abstract
The nonlinear finite element code ABAQUS is employed to analyze the ideally elastic-plastic dynamic response of a sandwich cantilever beam with lattice truss cores subjected to tip impact. The influences of the mass and impact speed of the projectile on the maximum beam deflection are discussed. For given mass ratio and impact speed, the effects of the core topology on the maximum deflection are investigated. The numerical results of FEM is compared with the rigid-plastic analytical model.
