Abstract

In order to realize the real-time rendering of 3D virtual avatar (VA) on handsets, the technology of dynamic impostor is used to draw the VA. Furthermore, the distributed architecture based on PC/Handset is applied to reduce the occupancy of memory in handsets and the method of levels of action (LOA) and simple texture compression are adopted to save the required wireless network bandwidth. The experiments show that the method can satisfy adequately the requirement of real-time VA rendering on handsets.
