Dielectric Properties of Ethanol and Cyclohexane with Terahertz Frequency-domain Reflection Spectroscopy

Abstract

In this paper, a data processing method with the continuous wave terahertz frequency-domain reflection spectroscopy (THz-FDRS) adopting the coherent signal detection is developed. In order to solve the phase offset and Fabry-Perot interference of the reflection geometry, self-reference calibration method and wavelet denoising are used to study the characteristics of polar and nonpolar liquids. The complex refractive index and permittivity of nonpolar liquid (cyclohexane) and polar liquid (ethanol) can be extracted successfully, which agree well with the experimental results measured previously.
