Abstract

A new mechanical artificial heart valve-bileaflet with cambered profile (BLCV) developed jointly by Chengdu University of Science and Technology and Western China University of Medical Sciences. This new valve has been put into clinical use for experimentation. BLCV has two leaflets devised with the hinged thin airfoil theory. It has a central passage flow-field and good functional bionic as well as hemodymamical property. Especially, its cambered profile shape has the property of 'early partial closure'. Testing result shows that compared with the same kind of current available materials, it has excellent performances of blood and tissue compatibility. It is harmless to be used in human body. All the data of theoretical analysis, numerical computations and experiments in vivo or in vitro show that BLCV has a better property. It would be a promising artificial heart valve replacement.
