Abstract

This study presented how to develop persona for the Chinese learning application on mobile devices. Two personas were developed according to the understanding of current products and previous studies. Target market analysis was used in developing the two personas for learning Chinese characters on mobile devices. Consequently, the two personas were designed for two target groups: the short-term visitors (e.g. exchanging students) and the long-term Cosmopolitans (e.g. professions in China). Other translation application and learning applications on mobile devices were also discussed and evaluated in this study. An interview was used to revise and improve the persona. Future research directions were discussed at the end, including location-oriented mode, rotation mode, and dark mode.
