Determination of Young's modulus of the syntactic foam plastics by differential scheme

Abstract

The effective elastic modulus of the composite containing hollow spheres is investigated by the differential scheme. The results derived show that the moduli of the composite with higher volume fraction of hollow spheres can be predicted by this method. The modified result of Young's modulus can be used to predict the Young's modulus of the syntactic foam plastics in which some voids are included. A quite good agreement has been obtained between the experimental results and prediction of the theoretical Young's moduli.
