Abstract

To effectively address the low vibration transfer efficiency and poor rotation accuracy in an ultrasonic vibration system by using the current structure of ultrasonic vibration horn, some typical ultrasonic vibration connect structures were studied, and a vibration horn based on the structure of hollow short horn was presented. The output amplitude of the vibration horn was measured by using an optical micrometer, and the results show that the proposed ultrasonic vibration horn in a cutting system is stable, and the large amplitude is 10 μm which is 3 times bigger than that of the conventional one. The workpiece surface texture is also significantly superior to the previous. So it can meet the system requirements for large amplitude and high rotational accuracy.
